The Tulsa Police Foundation is raising money in an effort to serve areas in the community that are in need.
They say it's all a part of their Random Acts of Kindness initiative. The foundation says every December they go out and buy groceries, gas cards, and gift cards allowing the officers to seek out a need in their communities. A silent auction begins at 10 a.m. and goes until 5 featuring over 50 items donated from local vendors.
The Tulsa Police Community Engagement Unit is stopping by at noon to showcase TPD's new SUVs. Event Organizer Danny Mills with the TPD Foundation says it's an opportunity to get to know the men and women behind the blue.
"It's very important to make sure that they have the tools and resources to be able to make these relationships. To help change their perspective of not just seeing an officer with a badge and a gun. To be able to see an officer and recognize that officer's face," said Mills.
There will also be superheroes and princesses present for kids to take pictures with, and a blood drive in the parking lot from 10 to 3. For more ways to donate CLICK HERE
