WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The Neighbors’ Place in Wausau is extending its reach to help even more in the community. The site is now offering a new diaper bank called “The Babies’ Place”.
The diaper bank will have the same income eligibility as the food pantry. Families can come and pick up one package of 80 diapers every month. The reason why the number 80 was chosen is that it represents 25% of a family’s diaper needs.
The Neighbors’ Place chose to extend to toddler needs because there is a direct correlation between diaper needs and food insecurity.
“They may keep the baby in the diaper as long as necessary to make the diaper stretch. We’re well aware of that and want to address that by providing hygiene products for women and families that need that service,” Neighbors’ Place Executive Director Donna Ambrose said.
