Twin Cities nonprofits, community organizations and churches are gathering donations and coordinating cleanup efforts in areas damaged by the rioting that has followed the death of George Floyd in police custody on Memorial Day.
Here are some resources for those looking to volunteer or who are in need of assistance.
Donate food or other supplies:
• People can drop off food kits in brown grocery bags Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon in Sanford Middle School’s parking lot at 3524 42nd Ave. S., Minneapolis. The meals will go to kids in the area.

• Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is accepting donations of food and toiletries from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 2730 E. 31st St. The church has also asked people to donate tools and supplies to board up windows, including large sheets of plywood, screws, hammers, drills and electric saws. The equipment will not be returned to owners, the church said on Facebook. Community members can pick up items from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and crisis counseling will also be available.
• “Pop-up” food pantries are being established daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Emerson and Broadway avenues in North Minneapolis and at the intersection of Central and Lexington avenues in St. Paul.
•Circle of Discipline is offering free grocery store and food shelf transportation for the elderly in Minneapolis from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. from May 30 to June 5. Those in need of the service can contact 952-457-2290. It is not wheelchair accessible.

Donate money:
• The Lake Street Council in Minneapolis is collecting donations to support small businesses and nonprofits that need to rebuild. Donations can be made on their website.
• In St. Paul, the Neighbors United Funding Collaborative is similarly raising money to help businesses rebuild.
Help clean up (people are encouraged to bring brooms, trash bags, work gloves and masks):
• Volunteers will gather at the Minnehaha Avenue and Lake Street intersection in Minneapolis at 9 a.m. Sunday to start cleaning up, and will be making their way west along Lake Street.
• Northside clean up is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Sunday in North Commons Park in Minneapolis.
• Powderhorn Park community members plan to gather at 11 a.m. Sunday starting at the north side of the park.
