Want to be in a movie? A casting call is seeking actors for an upcoming “Untitled Rust Belt” feature film in Syracuse.

Casting Double, a New York City-based casting agency, says casting directors are scouting the Syracuse area this week and looking for potential actors to fill roles. They’ll be “street casting” at a variety of local events and locations, but are also inviting people to submit online applications for specific roles (see below).

According to a press release, online applicants must be local to the greater Syracuse region. Both actors and non-actors are invited to apply, with all ages and levels of experience being sought for day player and background roles.

Filming is scheduled in the Syracuse area from Nov. 21 through Jan. 4, 2022.

The movie is being written and directed by South African filmmaker John Trengove, who won an award for Best First Feature Award with 2017′s “The Wound” at the BFI London Film Festival, and produced by Gina Gammell and Ryan Zacarias. Principal cast members and the film’s official title have not been announced, but the synopsis suggests it will be a drama:

“It’s Christmas time and a retrenched factory worker is feeling the burn. His girlfriend has a baby on the way, but with no fixed income and the ghosts of his past come back to haunt him, his grip on reality slips and he develops a dangerous obsession with an immigrant bodybuilder at his local gym.”
