Northwest Valley Connect officials continue to seek volunteers to meet the growing demand.

Northwest Valley Connect, with a main office at 9445 N. 99th Ave., Peoria, is a nonprofit organization created in 2014 to provide resources for older adults and veterans in need of transportation. Through the agency’s call center, volunteers and staff link clients to a variety of transportation options to get where they need to go.

Volunteer opportunities include drivers, data entry, office assistance and advocacy.

Drivers operate one of NVC’s vehicles or their personal vehicle. All rides are in the West Valley. Shifts are four hours per week Monday-Friday. Training is provided and the schedule is flexible.

Collecting data on the work NVC does is essential to achieving funding. Volunteers can work in the agency’s small office or from home. Hours vary and training provided.

Office volunteers help keep the small operations team organized by completing work on documents, filing and other assorted office type duties. Hours vary with a flexible schedule Monday-Friday.

Civic-minded volunteers help bring attention to issues that affect residents in NVC’s communities of service. Through letter writing, calls, attending meetings or visiting the legislature in downtown Phoenix, these volunteers amplify a resident voice where it’s needed. Training provided, hours vary and the schedule is flexible.

There are other ways to help. As a nonprofit, NVC is donation driven. Financial assistance helps keep the vehicles on the road and allows staff to continue to serve clients. Donations can be made online at northwestvalleyconnect.org or at the agency’s mailing address — Northwest Valley Connect, PO Box 9303, Surprise,  AZ 85374.

Visit northwestvalleyconnect.org or call Libby Christianson, NVC volunteer coordinator, at 623-282-9300.
Northwest Valley Connect advances equality, human dignity and strengthens the quality of life for residents and communities by addressing the transportation culture of those aging in place, persons with disabilities and veterans, offering choices that improve independence.
