Jacksonville Jaguars’ biggest roster need heading into 2020 season - ClutchPoints

sambitasa.blogspot.com

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the more confusing teams in the last few years.

They went from terrible, to one of the biggest surprises in the NFL. From there, they were considered Super Bowl contenders. However, they quickly fell down the totem pole and back into being a team that was average at best.

Now they are in a strange spot. The Jaguars definitely have a lot of young and exciting pieces, and some great veterans as well. What position needs the most help?

Let’s take a look at the team and try to figure out what Jacksonville’s biggest roster need is heading into the 2020 season.

Unsurprisingly, this is tough to answer.

The Jaguars have a lot of quality players at different positions. At the same time, they could use serious upgrades at quite a few different spots. And even some of the positions that might not be a desperate need could probably use upgraded.

For example, tight end. The Jaguars have a lot of players who have given them something there. The issue has been health; it’s been an extremely unlucky position in that area for Jacksonville.

This offseason they added a proven veteran in Tyler Eifert. However, he has injury issues himself. So he could actually just add to the cycle that continues to be the problem at the position.

Is quarterback set with Gardner Minshew? What about running back? What if Leonard Fournette is shipped out? The former seems to be in no danger of losing his job and the latter hasn’t been traded yet, so until something changes both of those positions are in good enough shape.

The defense has some question marks as well. Overall, they are still the anchor of the team. There is still more than enough talent in the secondary, on the defensive line and in the linebacker corps to keep any of those groups being considered in dire need of an upgrade.

That leaves a pretty important position group: Offensive line.

Minshew is potentially the future at quarterback for the Jaguars. If they want to find out, though, he’ll need to stay upright. The Jacksonville offensive line needs to give him the time to throw the ball.

While the Jaguars offensive line is not terrible, it could use some upgrades. And with a great running back and quality receivers, this is the biggest need in order to both protect Minshew and give Fournette his best odds to succeed.

The Jaguars added guard Ben Bartch in this year’s draft, but they could still use depth and potentially could make upgrades this offseason.

There are still big names out there in free agency, Cordy Glenn, Larry Worford, Ryan Kalil and Jason Peters just to name a few. If the Jaguars really wanted to make a move, they could.

With that in mind, Jacksonville should take a long, hard look at their offensive line. It might just be their biggest position of need heading into 2020. And it’s something they can still fix with relative ease.
