ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Box after box, family after family, supported during the pandemic thanks to Allentown-based Aspire to Autonomy.

"We're just saying if you're hungry and you need food, come get it," said Darnell Davis, the organization's co-founder and CEO.

No questions asked. 8,000 pounds of food was dropped off at the Hispanic Center in Bethlehem around 3 p.m. Friday. The truck then took another 8,000 pounds to Centennial Park in Easton.

Boxes for food drive

"My idea was to try to support more people in Northampton County because I just didn't see it happening," said Davis.

And in a time like this, people are grateful.

"This is wonderful because some of us are not working right now and we have families to feed," said Nereida Ramos.

"I'll speak for the community when I say that they will be grateful. With everything going on in the world today, wow. I think this is really going to be appreciated," said Marisol Mojica.

Each box was packed with essentials like produce, meat, and milk. Davis says those in need deserve the very best.

Food drive

"We want to make sure that our community members don't have to do anything unnecessary in order to survive," he said.

Some even came to give back to those who couldn't pick up the items themselves.

"I'll tell it like this, and I'm going to say it, that's what God calls us to do," said Mojica.
