The last thing the 2021 Clemson football team has to worry about is the CFB Playoff.
The Tigers have three losses and they’re not even being considered for a top-25 ranking, much less will they get anywhere close to finishing in the final four.
That being said, anyone who knows anything about this program knows that Clemson isn’t going away. The Tigers made six-straight CFB Playoff appearances and they have the second-most wins in the playoff of any program in the country.
So, when Clemson football does return to prominence, we want to know that the Tigers will get a fair shake. Unfortunately, the CFB Playoff committee proved with its initial rankings on Tuesday night that they have no intention of giving any team outside of the SEC a fair shake.
Clemson football fans should be rooting for an expanded CFB Playoff that will take power away from an incompetent committee
Alabama, despite having a loss to a team that is outside of the top-10, is ranked No. 2 in the nation. Cincinnati, who is undefeated and has a win over a top-10 team in Notre Dame, is ranked No. 6 behind three one-loss teams in Bama, Oregon and Ohio State.
Mississippi State– who has three losses– is ranked inside the top-20 while Wake Forest, who is undefeated, barely snuck inside the top-10.
The inconsistencies and clear pro-SEC agenda that this committee has shown throughout the years, but especially in this ranking is laughable. And that’s why we need an expanded CFB Playoff that’s not dictated on the SEC’s terms.
Teams need to be able to control their own destiny without having to worry about the committee and its incompetence.
There needs to be an automatic qualifying bid for conference champions and the Group of 5 needs to have a voice at the table, as well.
A 12-team playoff with 6 SEC teams shouldn’t be a thing. However, expansion needs to happen and inclusivity needs to be the goal. This garbage about ‘best team’ is nothing more than a façade for so-called analysts to pretend they know anything when, in fact, they don’t.
