Florida Officials Want Wakulla County Residents' Input On Septic To Sewer Projects - WFSU

sambitasa.blogspot.com

Florida officials want to reduce the number of homes relying on septic tanks in Wakulla County. The move is part of an effort to improve water quality in Wakulla springs. To test the waters, they’re conducting a series of four surveys to get a better idea of how locals might feel about switching to sewer.

Each survey tackles a different subject. But overall, they’re meant to help officials understand where people are getting their information from, what their environmental concerns are, what they think of past septic to sewer projects, and how they would feel about future ones. Dewberry Engineers is the firm hired by Wakulla County to do the surveys. The firm’s project manager, Trevor Burch says it’s important to hear what the public has to say.

"We can’t address things that we don’t know are an issue. So, you know, bring that information to us, let us take that, let us decide for it, let us get that information to the people that can make decisions on it," Burch says.

Burch says if the data shows a lot of people are against septic to sewer projects, the state may have to do more education and outreach to get people on board.

The first survey is available to fill out here.

The second survey is available to fill out here.

The third and fourth surveys have not yet been released to the public.
