CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Over the weekend, you may have seen a photo going around social media of a local doctor being taken to work on a snowmobile.
Ethan Healey is a local 17-year-old who is homeschooled and works locally as a full-time technician. On Sunday, he was doing what any normal teenager with a snowmobile would be doing during a winter storm, having fun. Healey was then headed to check on his grandparents when he was flagged down by a local resident.
“I was going to check on my grandparents and just playing around in the neighborhood. Some guy flagged me down and said, will you take this guy to the hospital? And I said sure.”
In the past 24 hours, the picture has gotten hundreds of likes and shares, but that one ride, wasn’t the end of Healey’s service. His mom put out a post on Facebook saying he was available to help and a handful of people reached out.
“I’ve been helping people all of yesterday and all of today.”
Those people include doctors, nurses and someone who was stuck in their car for hours. Healey admits that when his grandpa gave him the snowmobile a few months ago, he wasn’t expecting to use it for something like this.
“It’s always been a dream to drive a snowmobile on the street and I just figured it was the perfect opportunity. It’s a feeling of pride, you helped someone who needed to get to work and you probably saved a life, that’s a pretty good feeling.”
Healey has lived in Cheyenne his whole life and said this was the worst snowstorm he’s ever experienced. But he’s enjoyed being there for the community in a time of need.
