MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Monroe Police Department held their Blue Santa Toy Drive today collecting toys for children in need. All donated toys will go to the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Northeast Louisiana, which serves abused and neglected children.
Kwasic Heckard with the Monroe Police Department says they had over 170 toys collected by noon December 11th.
“People have purchased bikes, Razors, dolls, race cars, everything you know and we appreciate the assistance that the community is giving,” says Heckard. “I hope it leaves a positive outlook of the police department, the Monroe Police Department, we’re out here in the public being active.”
Heckard says they’re also going to be feeding people in need on December 22nd, so they’d appreciate any donations to help buy things like turkeys and hams.
