Want to Know How Poorly Washington's O-Line Played Week 5? How Much Time You Got? - NBC4 Washington

These numbers show how poorly Washington's O-line played vs. LA originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Want a number to prove how poorly Washington's offensive line fared against the Rams?

OK, but first, how much time you got? Because there are plenty to choose from.

The most obvious one is the eight sacks that Los Angeles racked up on Sunday at FedEx Field. That's the same total Washington achieved versus the Eagles in the opener.

It was much more fun when Ron Rivera's players were the ones delivering the pain, for the record.

Kyle Allen was dropped twice, and once he exited the eventual 30-10 loss because of an injury, Alex Smith entered and hit the ground while behind the line of scrimmage six times.

That's not all, sadly. Let's keep this going.

Aaron Donald, who, to be fair, is as dominant as a cheeseburger is delicious, had four quarterback takedowns in his squad's easy win. Even by his standards, that's outrageous.

Rams defender Troy Reeder, meanwhile, entered Week 5 having played 20 times in the NFL. He recorded zero sacks in those 20 pro appearances.

Reeder proceeded to notch three in the Burgundy and Gold's home stadium.

The QBs weren't the only ones to suffer from Washington's poor, poor, poooooooor performance up front, however. The running backs were affected too, as Antonio Gibson and JD McKissic combined for just 30 yards on 12 carries.

That's good for 2.5 yards a pop.

And, just to close this cheery blog up, Washington's offense produced negative-6 net yards in the second half. In other words, they would've been better off throwing an incomplete pass on every snap in the third and fourth quarters.

Hopefully, Brandon Scherff will be healthy soon. Maybe fourth-round selection Saahdiq Charles can step in shortly for reinforcements as well.

But as a whole, the offensive line was a disaster on Sunday. A dee-za-stur. It's going to be pretty difficult to evaluate who the best option among the three signal callers is if that keeps up, too.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
