Nick Cordero's wife is giving an update on the Broadway star's health, who remains in a medically-induced coma after getting his right leg amputated over coronavirus complications.
In an Instagram Story Thursday, Amanda Kloots shared that the family has been "in a bit of a waiting game."
"The doctors said that there was nothing on the MRI that would show that he won’t wake up, which is amazing news. We are so happy about that because that was a big worry for all of us," she began. "However, he hasn’t woken up and it’s been 12 days out of sedation. Today's the 12th day. And doctors do think he should have woken up by now."
Despite Cordero's status, Kloots said she's staying positive.
"We are just hoping and praying every day that Nick wakes up, and putting that energy and positivity out there because I do believe he will," she added. "He’s on Nick time, and when he wakes up, we’ll all be here to celebrate it."
She also said that doctors are thinking about slowly trying to get him off his ventilator and other assistance.
"They’re slowly reducing his medication and the machines he’s on, so he’ll be off blood pressure medicine," she shared. "They are also trying to reduce the dialysis assistance, which is great. So are we are waiting for him to wake up... they are slowly weaning his body off of assistance."
The Tony-nominated actor had been admitted to the hospital for what was initially thought to be pneumonia, Kloots wrote on Instagram on April 1. An initial coronavirus test came up negative, though a subsequent one turned up positive for COVID-19.
"I miss him terribly," she wrote at the time. "I’m not allowed there to visit of course and can do nothing to help him. Nick is scared too, this has gone from bad to worse. He isn’t allowed to eat or drink, he is very weak and having a hard time breathing... He is fighting for his life right now."
