It is no secret that Meghan Markle has been under extreme pressure lately. She has been harassed relentlessly in the media, taking attacks on everything from her mothering skills to her mixed-race heritage. It seems that no matter what, the Duchess of Sussex can’t catch a break.

There has been so much going on with the royal family lately, and it would appear as if there is just one scandal after another. Duchess Meghan, in particular, has been taking her fair share of backlash lately, and even Prince Harry felt that it was necessary to come forward and release a statement in his wife’s defense.

However, some people may be viewing the situation from a different angle. Are the attacks on Markle meant to protect another royal?

What is Prince Andrew’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein?

So, how is it that the notorious Jeffrey Epstein has ties to the British royal family? Prince Andrew and Epstein met in 1999, according to Town & Country. Prince Andrew was often a guest at Epstein’s several properties and was even photographed at his New York City townhouse several years ago.

The late Epstein and Prince Andrew have known each other for a long time, spending time together a few times per year. Epstein has even attended some royal family functions and has met Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

Prince Andrew has come out and said that he never should have spent time with Epstein after the horrendous convictions against him, and even Buckingham Palace released a statement regarding Prince Andrew’s feelings on the situation. Epstein passed away in a Manhattan prison this past summer.

According to People, there were some serious allegations made against the Duke of York, which he adamantly denies. In fact, Andrew admits to regretting his entire friendship with Epstein.

The news media is being extremely unfair to Duchess Meghan, and it is really beginning to take a toll on her. Bet reports that the Duchess of Sussex recently admitted in an interview that she is not doing so good and that royal life is more difficult and challenging than she had initially anticipated. Duchess Meghan has come under fire for so many things, and most of the attacks appear to be completely unjustified.

The media is scrutinizing every move that she makes, and bashing her for her actions whenever the opportunity arises. As a result, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have openly admitted to being unhappy with royal life as it currently is, and they are even taking a break for a while in order to lay low and keep themselves out of the spotlight.

Are the attacks on Meghan Markle meant to protect Prince Andrew?

The news media just won’t leave Duchess Meghan alone, and it is causing people to wonder if there is actually another, deeper reason. Are the attacks on Markle meant to actually protect Prince Andrew by deflecting attention away from his scandal?

According to Reddit, the media is going after Duchess Meghan simply to keep the focus off of the Duke of York’s relationship with the convicted pedophile Epstein. Many feel that Prince Andrew’s friendship with Epstein is a much bigger deal than anything regarding Duchess Meghan and that the royal family doesn’t want the negative attention. Therefore, it could be that the disproportionate attacks on Duchess Meghan are simply a clever way of protecting Prince Andrew so that he doesn’t come under fire for what could be one of the biggest scandals in royal history.

If that’s the motive, it’s not working. After giving The BBC an interview about his friendship with Epstein, the Duke of York continued to face criticism and announced his intention to “step back from public duties for the foreseeable future.” Prince Andrew reportedly requested permission from the queen, and she granted his request.

“I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein,” said the prince in a statement. “His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.”
