BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The artist behind Binghamton's Black Lives Matter Mural is working on a new project, this time gathering supplies for locals who are in need.

She says she started the 'Grow Bloom Project' with fellow activist Park Avery after they noticed there was a significant homeless population in the area around the mural. Saturday they collected and distributed supplies on Wall Street in Binghamton.

They say they decided to team up and collect food and shoes to distribute to those within the community who need the help.

"Not everybody has the opportunity to go out and buy food and buy shoes. Low-income families, they can barely pay rent, and then they don't have anything left over," she said.

They say they'll be holding a similar event on October 31st.
