The contestants on The Bachelor have been the victims of cyberbullying for years and the show is finally taking a stand against the online hate, though fans are now calling out the show.
During a segment on the Women Tell All special, which aired on Monday (March 2), former The Bachelorette star Rachel Lindsay returned to address the very serious issue.
Rachel revealed that she constantly receives hateful messages in her Instagram comments and DMs. She even read aloud some of the messages that she and other contestants have received in the past.
“By not talking about it, people feel empowered that they can say certain things to us… If we are gonna fix this problem, we have to acknowledge the problem,” Rachel said. “I wanted to pave the way for women who look like me, who hadn’t been represented.”
The current contestants also addressed the hateful messages they’ve been receiving, including Tammy, who said she has been getting death threats in her work emails.
Fans are calling out the show because they say the program constantly airs bullying between the contestants and gives a platform to people who have bullied in the past. While fans applaud the show for standing against cyberbullying, some think the show has some more bullying issues they need to address as well.
unpopular opinion:
it’s great that the bachelor is trying to address toxic social media bullying but they need to address the toxic bullying and harassment that the cast gives each other. how can we expect media to improve when the people on each season aren’t? #TheBachelor

That was the most hypocritical segment on the bachelor as all those girls were bullying each other an hour before

The irony of a show like The Bachelor talking about hate and bullying isn’t lost on me. They create villains and drama. Those comments were awful but, these chicks just sat screaming at each other. #TheBachelorABC #singlegirlproblems #thebachelor #bachelornation @BachelorABC

Thank you @BachelorABC for talking about race, bullying and harassment but you can’t have that conversation without calling our Vitoria F and her white lives matter campaign. #bachelor #BachelorNation #WomenTellAll

I’m so confused as the @BachelorABC does a segment on harassment & bullying & watched the all the girls get upset about it but yet they are all guilty AF for doing the same thing on live tv .#thebachelor #bachelor

Let’s have a “We don’t stand for bullying” segment 20 minutes after every single one of them just finished yelling and screaming at each other AKA bullying each other. Sure. #bachelor

I support the message, I do. But how about the girls hating and bullying each other? How about we address that? #TheBachelor #BachelorNation
